Who Is The Wordsmith VA?

I fell in love with the written word in elementary school as I wrote fictional stories, both for school and for fun. That love grew in junior high as I worked on the school’s newspaper and yearbook staffs, and I ultimately served as co-editor of the yearbook during my senior year of high school. The next natural step was to major in journalism at Ball State University.

After graduation, I began my professional career by writing website content, newsletter articles, and press releases for a local hospital system. Eventually, my skills evolved into coordinating communications campaigns, organizing and publicizing large-scale events, and managing team projects and editorial boards. I’ve worked in the marketing and community relations departments of two large hospital systems and in member services for a national professional fraternity.

My colleagues always asked me to proofread their work before it was published. I tend to easily spot spelling and grammar errors in printed materials. And mistakes published publicly by large companies really irk me! It was only natural that I become a professional proofreader. Now I use my top-notch proofreading skills to help court reporters polish their legal transcripts.

As a graduate of the Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ course, I am fully trained and prepared for proofreading your transcripts. I understand the demands placed on court reporters. You must accurately record the spoken word while maintaining a clean, readable record. And your time is precious. Let me help you reclaim some of that time by proofreading your legal transcripts. I carefully read every word of transcripts, reviewing them for consistency, accuracy, and context according to each court reporter’s personal style and specifications.

A court reporter’s job is never easy, but let me make your job a little easier by proofreading your transcripts.

I also enjoy transcribing legal proceedings, and I’m a Certified Digital Legal Transcriber (CDLT-184).

You’re not a court reporter? That’s OK! Besides proofreading transcripts, I also offer writing, editing, and marketing services to small business owners. As a graduate of the General Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ course, I can help you polish your written creations, including blog posts, articles, eBooks, brochures, and more. I’ll use my eagle eyes to help you make your words shine and reach your target audience.

When I’m not proofreading, I’m rooting for my husband as he referees high school basketball games, listening to my 13-year-old daughter play piano or violin, or watching sports on TV with my 8-year-old son. I also enjoy studying the Bible, watching “I Love Lucy,” and cross-stitching.
