Flash drives – You can easily put information from your computer onto a flash drive and then detach it to store for safety or to transfer to another computer. But be cautioned that flash drives can be erased and rewritten just like any other drive on your computer.

External hard drives – This is a great way to back up large amounts of data. An external hard drive is generally just like the memory in your computer, but it can be detached and put in another space. Unlike flash drives, you can get hard drives with very large amounts of space.

Online backup services – Online backup services, such as Backblaze, Carbonite, and Mozy, work like other backup software. But for a monthly or annual fee, your data is transmitted online and is stored at a professional data center. The benefits to using these services is that your data is secured off-site, so it’s safe from theft, fire, and other disasters.

So which option is best for you? Choose the right one for you and your company. But remember that backing up your data just once time does only so much good. If you don’t back it up regularly, you’re still in danger of having a major loss.
